Ghani Blames Taliban for Presence of Foreign Troops

“Those of our youth who have been deceived by intelligence agencies of other countries, should stop the destruction of the country and come back home.”

President Ashraf Ghani has blamed the Taliban for the necessary presence of foreign troops in Afghanistan as well as the existence of 20 other “terrorist groups” in the country.

Ghani was speaking during his inauguration of the 26th round of Parliament’s working year.

“The Taliban is the main factor contributing to the presence of foreign troops in Afghanistan. We have asked again for their presence because of terror.” Ghani said. “There are 20 terrorist groups in Afghanistan and the Taliban has paved the way for their emergence.”

Ghani ones again warned the Taliban against their continued violence in the country and said that “those Taliban who are killing our people are the enemies of our nation like Daesh and other terrorist groups.”

“Our security forces are able to defeat the country’s enemies and foil their attacks. Those who don’t want peace, will be eliminated,” Ghani said.

“Those of our youth who have been deceived by intelligence agencies of other countries, should stop the destruction of the country and come back home. They will have the same rights as other people,” he said.

He stressed that the new U.S administration has “strongly” announced its continued support for Afghanistan and emphasized “the need for better local governance. The government is more focused on this.”

He also assured the people that the coming elections will be held on time.

His comments followed those of the House Speaker, Abdul Raouf Ibrahimi who said at the opening of the inauguration ceremony, “Afghanistan is the victim of actions of countries in the region” and added that “for those who want peace, the government must open the door to them.”

Ibrahimi warned over the upcoming summer and said that “enemies” were trying to pressurize our security forces and “the government must be prepared.”

He also said that delay over holding of the Parliamentary election will tarnished the people trust and “government must to hold the election in a manner that it would be accepted by the people.”
