Hamid Karzai Attacks UN and USA
UN offices in Afghanistan are working for the objectives of powerful countries with no interests in Afghanistan, claims former president.

Thank you for keeping your promise to Americans for ending the war in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Former president Hamid Karzai on Thursday accused the UN of pursuing a dualistic approach policy toward world countries, including Afghanistan.
Addressing a conference of Model United Nations (MUN) in Kabul, Karzai accused the UN offices in Afghanistan of working for the objectives of powerful countries with interests in Afghanistan.
He said that world countries would benefit from the UN once the UN Security Council is dissolved. Karzai added that the UN was not a neutral body.
“Our thirty years of experience indicates that UN offices in many cases are exploited for the objectives of powerful countries,” said Karzai.
Karzai also severely criticized the US for its policies towards Afghanistan.
“We are known for our bravery and courage, but why we are squished underfoot? If it is a pitched battle and war of swords, our flag will be hoisted on Washington tomorrow, we will defeat them,” said Karzai.
The UN so far has not reacted to Karzai’s allegations.
Participants at the gathering also raised deep concerns over the quality of the education sector in Afghanistan.
“Every time our elders say that more than five million children in Afghanistan are going to schools, but what is the benefit of such schooling if a graduate is not able to write a simple application, what is the importance of it,” said Uuzila Nemati, head of Afghanistan Research and Evaluation Unit.
“The most important is to work at the national level, I see our role here very much as a supportive role, we have been here very long time and we have a longstanding commitment. We are committed to development and support of Afghanistan up to 2024. It is one of the longest commitments that we have ever made and we will continue to support education, the building of institutions and perhaps most importantly to empower women,” said Swedish envoy to Kabul Anders Sjöberg.
MUN conferences are frequently held in Afghanistan and are aimed to increasing awareness about the decision making in the world’s biggest organization.
